Craig Lawrence

Brought up on a smallholding in Shropshire, Craig has been raised around cattle and was helping with his parents Hereford suckler cows as soon as he could walk, he has worked with cattle ever since.

Throughout his school years every spare minute was spent helping out on the neighbouring Dairy Farm, milking by the age of eight and by the age of thirteen he had his first part-time job.  On leaving school Craig studied Agriculture at Walford College and on completing this took up his first full-time General Farm Worker/Assistant Herdsman position at Brooklands Farm, Ellesmere.

A desire to concentrate on the dairying side of farming lead to a job as Herdsman on Edstaston Hall Farm, Wem and on the sale of their herd in 2001 he took up his first Herd Manager position at Webscott Farm, Myddle where he stayed until 2008 when the herd was dispersed due to retirement.

As lameness prevention is a crucial part of any herd’s health and productivity it was at Webscott Farm where Craig first met and worked closely with Charlie Harding.

On leaving Webscott Farm Craig made the move to Cumbria to manage a 300 head Jersey herd.  Again lameness prevention proved to be a major part of Craig’s role as Herd Manager and he attended the Embryonics Ltd Professional Foot Trimming Course in April 2009.  The completion of this course built on previous lameness prevention training courses Craig had undertaken and has lead to a change in career and a move back to Shropshire to work along side Charlie and his team.

As anyone in the farming industry will know Craig has little spare time but enjoys spending it with his young family, walking the dogs and following Formula One!
